Compostable Bottle Bags by Good Judy

250 per box.

Eco-responsible Bottle Bags: 10.2" x 6.3"

This highly durable semi-transparent bag is ideal for all bottles. It looks and feels like a regular bag but it is completely home compostable. Protect your surfaces from bacteria, viruses and liquids.

100% compostable means that PLA products are fully renewable. It can be converted back to monomer and polymer, or, it can be biodegraded into water, carbon dioxide and organic materials.

  • Material: PLA + PBAT
  • 26cm x 16cm or 10.2" x 6.3"
  • 250 per box
  • 20 Microns thick
  • Home, Landfill & Industrial compostable
  • Slightly larger than average for flexibility & extra protection

These barriers take approximately 6-12 months to decompose and do not require industrial composting. Things like seasonal changes in the winter and other temperature changes make the timeline for decomposition fluctuate. Home composting means they do not require industrial composting conditions to decompose into harmless particles.

PLA is much more sustainable than regular petroleum made plastic. PLA is the common name for Polylactic Acid or Polyactide. PLA is made from starch rich plants such as corn, wheat and sugar beets. These plants are first milled to separate the starch, from which is unrefined dextrose is processed. The unrefined dextrose goes through a fermentation process and the result is lactic acid.

The tested PBAT polymer is a fossil-based, biodegradable polymer, which is used amongst others for the production of biodegradable, certified compostable bio-waste bags (according to EN 13432) or biodegradable in soil certified mulch films (according to EN 17033).

Our bags are a combination of PLA and PBAT bio-plastic. Both the considered thickness of the bag and the use of these compostable materials are why these bags can break down in uncontrolled land environments like home composting. We have even done unofficial tests in buried piles of soil where no aeration occurs over several months and these bags do decompose completely.
